Thailand June 2008 Good Clinical Laboratory Practice – Laboratory Safety Training

At the invitation of the Research Institute for Health Sciences (RIHES) Clinical Laboratories in Chiang Mai Thailand, Mr. Tobin Guarnacci of CLINIQAL, INC presented Clinical Laboratory Safety Training.

Laboratory management and technologists joined in a day long training session at the Belle Vista resort in the mountains above Chiang Mai. Training was conducted in English and Thai and included group activities and brain storming sessions.

Topics covered during training were focused upon clinical laboratory safety practices to include:

- Review of selected guidelines and standards,

- Biosafety levels (BSL) ratings system for clinical laboratories

- Universal precautions, bloodborne pathogens and post exposure prophylaxis, chemical hygiene,

- Infectious waste disposal and dangerous goods transport

- Laboratory safety planning, implementation and documentation
